Key Lime Smoothie

I love to have smoothies for breakfast or lunch and, being a Floridian, I love key limes in everything but especially Key Lime Pie. Now I can’t have Key Lime Pie everyday but this smoothie tastes so much like it that is satisfies my cravings in a healthy and less caloric way. Yay!

Key Lime Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 6-oz key lime yogurt (see below on how to make your own from vanilla yogurt)
  • 1 banana, frozen
  • 1/4 cup coconut milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon key lime juice
  • 4 ice cubes
  • 1 Tablespoon Chia powder (optional)
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (optional)

Directions:

Add all ingredients into blender and combine well. Garnish with slice of lime if desired.

Serves 1.

Note: If you can’t find Key Lime Yogurt make some of your own. Using a 6-oz container of vanilla nonfat yogurt, add 1-1/2 teaspoon lime juice, 1/2 teaspoon lime zest and, if too tart for you, add in 1/2 package Stevia. Stir and voila – Key Lime Yogurt!

      Hi Lori, Chia seeds will work but the texture will be slightly different. If you want to try Chia powder you can grind your own by placing in a coffee grinder. Enjoy!
