I love quick and easy breakfast smoothies but I also have to have my morning coffee. I mean, you really wouldn’t want to see me before I take my first sip. Just kidding, maybe. So I decided that it would make it much simpler if I just added the two together for a healthy fortifying breakfast.

I’ve made plenty of fruit smoothies, Strawberry Banana Smoothie, Mango Orange Protein Smoothie and even a Jump Start Java Smoothie but, and I can’t believe this, never one with blueberries! That just had to change since blueberries are one of my favorite berries. I even freeze loads of them when they’re in season so I can have them all year long.

When I make my smoothies I always like to include Greek yogurt. It has a high content of protein, providing a positive impact on bone health, as well as calcium & potassium which  helps to lower blood pressure when included in a healthy diet. It also has one more important property, it contains probiotics, in other words, bacteria that help keep your digestive track healthy. Now that’s a great way to start the day!

To make this smoothie even more beneficial, and more delicious, I added a boatload of blueberries. Blueberries, one of the most nutritional-rich fruits you can include in your diet, have a high percentage of fiber, potassium, vitamin C and phytonutrients. These components all support heart health with the fiber helping to lower the total amount of cholesterol in the blood. Pretty powerful for a little berry!

Now, if you’ve been following me for a while you must also know how much I love chocolate, and dark chocolate is the absolute best! And, the good news, it’s actually good for you. Nope, not kidding here, it really is! It’s rich in antioxidants and said to improve heart healthy, cognitive functions and lower blood pressure. So I just had to add it into the mix. I used a chocolate greens powder from Barleans that is sinfully delicious and contains a full day’s servings of greens, fruits & vegetables. And I didn’t get paid to say any of that, I just love their products. You can also use a chocolate protein powder of your choice.

This is one powerful smoothie and you can see why I just had to call it a blast. It will give you more energy than you know what to do with as well as a good caffeine boost for the morning wake up call. And, as you can see, you can make it more indulgent by adding some whipped cream on top too! 🙂 However you love it, I hope you enjoy!
