A Watermelon Margarita is just made for summer! A refreshing combination of fresh juicy watermelon, tequila & a touch of lime makes this the perfect warm weather thirst quencher.
I don't know about anyone else but after Memorial Day our family sure had a lot of watermelon left over! Now the question was what to do with it. Of course, there is always Watermelon Cucumber Mint Salad or a delicious Watermelon Pineapple Splash, but my mind immediately went to an alcoholic drink. Must be the heat talking!
I made a Watermelon Sangria last year for July 4th, which was super popular, but this time I wanted something a little on the sweet but tangy side. Umm, fresh juicy watermelon would go perfect with tequila and, being that margaritas are one of my favorite drinks, it just seemed like the thing to do.
And did it ever come out great! It was like drinking summer in a glass. It came out cool and refreshing with just enough tartness to make it a cocktail rather than a punch. My husband and I enjoyed them so much that I know I'll be making them again real soon.

Well, it's got to be 5 o'clock somewhere so I'd say happy hour was right now! If you love watermelon you'll love this sweeter version of the classic margarita.

So perfect for Cinco de Mayo! Love that watermelon flavor!
Linda Warren says
Thanks Jacqueline! It really is a great combo and something a little sweeter than the classic but just as delicious. Happy Cinco de Mayo!

watermelon with salt? i meen you rimmed the glass like a classic margarita but u made a watermelon margarita ( which is sweet ) and also you put sugar syrup. It´s working?
lindawarren says
The salted rim actually works very well with this drink due to the tartness of the lime juice and the taste of the tequila. The flavor of the watermelon is there but it still has the distinct taste of a margarita. Give it a try - it is really quite delicious.
