    Oatmeal Breakfast Recipes

It's no surprise that oatmeal is a heart-healthy whole grain. These whole grains provide energy making it the perfect breakfast to carry you through until lunch. It's also a popular comfort food with so many different ways to change it up. This air fryer oatmeal recipe is basic and lightly sweetened but can be easily customized.

    What is baked oatmeal?

Just like the name alludes to, baked oats are hearty and baked. Since they are made in the air fryer, they have a crispy exterior with a steamy-hot center.

Can you make baked oats in an air fryer? Yes! That's what this recipe is all about. It's faster than baking oats in the oven and cleanup is a breeze.

    Baked Oats Taste and Texture

What do baked oats taste like? Baked oatmeal has simple and lightly-sweet flavors so the baked oats taste like whatever you flavor them with. If you add chocolate chips, they will taste like chocolate. Add bananas, they'll taste like bananas.

What is the texture of baked oats? Baked oats have a thick and sticky texture somewhat like a muffin.

    Is baked oatmeal healthy?

Yes, if you make baked oatmeal with healthy ingredients, it can be very good for you! My recipe today is really good for you. The oats are low-glycemic whole grain and the maple syrup is easy on your blood sugar too. The banana adds potassium and fiber to the oatmeal. All in all, this is a heart-healthy and gut-healthy breakfast recipe.

Why You'll Love This Air Fryer Baked Oats Recipe

You'll love this bowl of plump and robust air fryer baked oats recipe because it has the perfect balance of sweetness and carby flavors. It's a soothing recipe that will remind you of your childhood.

    Ingredients

    Ingredients for baked oats.
    • Oats - old-fashioned rolled oats, quick-cooking oats, or oat flour
    • Egg - water can be substituted
    • Banana
    • Maple Syrup - used as natural sweetener
    • Baking Soda
    • Salt

    Ingredient Substitutions and Flavor Variations

    • Add some spice: ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice.
    • No Banana: Substitute the banana with ¼ cup of milk (dairy or plant-based), yogurt, or water.
    • No Egg (Vegan): Substitute the egg with a mixture of 1 tablespoon of ground flaxseed and 3 tablespoons of water.
    • Protein: Stir in 1 tablespoon of protein powder.
    • Sweetener: Substitute the maple syrup with honey, agave syrup, or sugar.
    • Large Single Serve - Instead of 2 ramekins use 1 small baking dish that fits in your air fryer basket. Increase the cooking time by a few minutes.
    • Tik Tok Baked Oats: Combine the ingredients in a blender instead of a bowl.

How to Make Baked Oats in Air Fryer

Steps to make air fryer baked oats.

Preheat air fryer to 300 degrees for 3 minutes.

    1. Place all ingredients in a medium bowl.
    2. Blend well.
    3. Divide mixture evenly between two well-greased ramekins. Place in air fryer.
    4. Air fry at 300 degrees for 7 minutes.
    Spoonful of air fryer oatmeal.

Carefully lift air fryer oatmeal out of the air fryer and add your desired toppings. Mini chocolate chips, sliced strawberries or bananas, sliced almonds, or toasted coconut are great choices. Dig in while it's still warm for a deliciously quick and healthy breakfast. Enjoy!

    Recipe Tips

    • Be sure to grease the ramekins for easier removal of the baked oats.
    • Preheat the air fryer for even cooking.
    • Don't overcook or the baked oatmeal will be dry and burnt on top. It's done when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

    Toppings for Baked Oats

    • Fruit (Fresh or Dried) - Apples, Banana, Berries, Coconut, Dates, Peaches, Pears, Raisins
    • Nuts - Almonds, Cashews, Pecans, or Walnuts
    • Vegetables - Roasted butternut squash or pumpkin.

What to Serve with Baked Oatmeal

    • Fresh Fruit
    • Meat - Bacon or Sausage
    • Potatoes - Hashbrowns or Breakfast Potatoes
    • Yogurt

How to Store, Freeze, and Reheat

To Store: Cool the air-fried oatmeal to room temperature. Wrap it with plastic wrap and store it in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

To Freeze: Cool the air-fried oatmeal and wrap it with plastic wrap and aluminum foil or place the plastic-wrapped baked oatmeal in a plastic freezer bag. Freeze it for up to 3 months. Thaw it in the refrigerator overnight.

To Reheat: Air fry at 350°F for 3 minutes, oven bake at 350°F for 5 minutes, or microwave on high for 30 to 45 seconds.

Love the minimal ingredients, one question though, do we blend it with the blender or blend as in just mix the ingredients together?
