Argentina Loves Its Malbecs

2011 Bodega Tamari Reserva Malbec

2011 Tamari Malbec

I recently tried several wines from the area of the Mendoza River in Argentina and this one stands out far and above the other selections in taste and quality. The 2011 Tamari Malbec even received a commendation at the 2012 International Wine Challenge.

Upon opening, this Malbec greets you  with a distinct nose of cherry and other red fruits as well as the wonderful floral aroma of jasmine.  On the palate, it is light to medium-bodied with flavors of ripe red fruits and plums with hints of hazelnut, chocolate and toasty oak. It is perfect whether accompanying a meal or being sipped alone. A nice addition to any wine rack for the price.

Check out other delicious Argentine Malbecs here.

Food Pairing: This fruit-forward wine pairs very well with grilled red meats such as Blue Cheese Zucchini Burgers, lamb, game, pork, spicy dishes and pastas like Rattlesnake Pasta, as well as hard cheeses.

Price Range: $11.27-$16.49
