A Light Pinot Noir – Perfect for Fall

2009 Cloud Break Pinot Noir

2009 Cloud Break Pinot NoirThe state of California has the ideal conditions for growing pinot noir grapes. The long warm days and cool evenings produce wines that are rich in fruit flavors and rich in texture.

Cloud Break blends pinot noir grapes from across California to give you a light tasting wine with aromas of raspberry and strawberry and just a hint of vanilla and spice. Flavors favor berry, raspberry, blackberry, bosenberry and cherry along with plum and there is a subtle note of oak at the finish. This wine is not very complex and lacks, what I consider a must for Pinot Noirs, a full robust taste. If you favor lighter reds this one would be one to consider but, if you like a fuller bodied wine, there are better choices in the same price range.

Food Pairing: Pinot Noir is a very versatile wine with soft tannins and pairs easily with a number of dishes, especially those with a degree of fattiness. Try with shellfish, especially those with a more spicy seasoning or a stronger fish like salmon, fried or roasted chicken, game, rabbit, pork, veal parmesan, braised short ribs and creamy or mild cheeses. Serve slightly chilled for the most enjoyment.
