Ingredients

apple
sliced

oranges
sliced

lemon
sliced (optional)

cinnamon sticks

nutmeg

knob fresh ginger

whole cloves

star anise

teaspoons
ground cardamon or 10 cardamon pods

teaspoon
vanilla extract or vanilla bean

water

Instructions
Slice the fruit into ¼-inch thick slices.
Place the fruit in a large pot or Dutch oven. Add all the spices and vanilla extract.
Cover with water.
Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, reduce heat and let it simmer.
You can simmer it for as long as desired, refilling with water as needed.
