This easy Overnight Cinnamon French Toast says I love you on Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, or any day. Soft & custardy, crispy & sweet, it's one decadent breakfast treat.
Spray an 8-½x11-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
Cut cinnamon swirl bread into cubes and arrange it evenly in the bottom of the baking dish.
In a medium bowl, whisk eggs, milk, vanilla extract, brown sugar and Grand Marnier, if using.
Pour egg mixture over bread. Press bread into liquid.
Cover with plastic wrap and store in refrigerator overnight.
Crumb Topping
Combine flour, brown sugar, spices, and salt in a medium bowl. Stir to mix.
Add cubed butter and, using a pastry cutter or fork, work it into the flour-sugar mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Cover and place in refrigerator.
To bake:
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Remove casserole from refrigerator. Sprinkle with crumb mixture.
Bake uncovered for 40-45 minutes or until set.
Cool slightly and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
Plate with sliced fruit and serve pure maple syrup on the side.
Notes
Note that the overnight chill time is not included in total time.You can bake this immediately if you prefer. After preparing, place in preheated oven for 30 minutes.
