Frequently Asked Questions About This Smoothie
What are the benefits of eating blackberries?
Blackberries are packed with Vitamin C and just 1 cup can provide half of the daily requirement. They are also high in fiber and manganese and are known to boost brain health. Who doesn't need that!
Can I make this smoothie without dairy?
Of course you can! In fact, I am lactose intolerant and use almond milk in place of a lowfat milk and an almond-based yogurt alternative for the Greek yogurt. You can also sub in any cashew, soy or coconut product in lieu of the dairy. If you do sub the non-dairy, boost this smoothie with your favorite protein powder.
What is the best time to sip on this smoothie?
I find the best time is in the morning or about one hour prior to working out. It also works great immediately after a workout too. The protein and nutrients help to energize you for the day.
How long can this smoothie be kept in the refrigerator?
I like to make mine fresh to get the most nutrients out of the fruit. If you need to make it ahead of time, place it in a sealed jar that is filled to the top in order to eliminate most of the air. It will keep about 1 day.
