Yummy Apple Pie Twists are easy to make & perfect for tailgating. Simple wrap of cinnamon rolls and apple pie filling. It's like taking a bite of pie without the plate.
Today I'm getting together with a few other food bloggers to bring you some sweeeet tailgating recipes just like we did last year. And these just aren't just any food bloggers but women food bloggers who love football!
Yep, we are diehard fanatics for college football, pro football or even both. And what goes better with football than good eats. We've got everything from savory to sweet, Pumpkin Pulled Pork Bowls to Jalapeno Ranch Dip, and it's all delicious! I think I'm going to have a big buffet for my next tailgating party just so I can try them all.
Most people think of savory foods for tailgating but, even then, there's always room for dessert. And since it's fall, what's better than apple pie!
Of course, no one wants to serve a slice of apple pie and have to get out forks and plates when you're in the middle of a game. I mean, heaven forbid if you're in the kitchen when your team finally scores a touchdown! So this is an easy way to get your pie as finger food.
And it's as easy as pie too (Sorry couldn't help myself). All you need is a package of cinnamon rolls, I used Pillsbury brand, and a can of apple pie filling. And, totally optional, a jar of caramel syrup. That's it!
First purée the pie filling til smooth.
Now take the cinnamon rolls and unroll each one.
Dip into the puréed pie filling and roll around.
Give it a few twists and place on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper or these sweet silicone mats. Not only do they make cleanup a breeze but they save money dice they can be reused again and again.
Bake, cool and serve with sides of caramel sauce, butter cream icing from the cinnamon roll package or even some whipped cream (you can use the kind in the can) flavored with a spoonful of caramel.
Enjoy our delicious dessert after some yummy savory options from our list below. My favorites are the Bacon Wrapped Cheese Smokies and the Apple Cider Chicken Sliders but, then again, I wouldn't turn any of them down! Dive in and go team! (I couldn't resist adding these apple pie sticks dipped in caramel!)
