Calling all coffee lovers! Make your iced coffee into this Patron Hummer cocktail for a decadent summertime treat. It’s like a coffee and chocolate milkshake taken up a notch with a combination of vanilla ice cream, coffee liqueur, rum and creme de cacao. Can you say cocktails for dessert anyone?
I’m sitting in the airport after a fantastic visit to see my son, wife and grandkids and thinking about todays post. I had been looking through some old recipe cards, which still have a sentimental value as some are from my mom and grandmother, and found a recipe for a cool looking cocktail called a hummer.
Looking through my liquor cabinet I found I had all the ingredients along with the ice cream in the freezer. I mean, who doesn’t like to have ice cream on hand no matter what the weather. I love to have it for topping desserts, like my Black Forest Crisp or a piece of cherry pie, or maybe just for a decadent milkshake. And it came in handy for making this drink too. See how advantageous it is to have some handy!
This cocktail is more like a dessert drink than a before dinner cocktail but I’d even drink it for a nightcap. It’s kind of like a milkshake but only for adults. Sorry kids you’re out of luck with this one!
All it takes is a blender, some ice cream and a few types of liquor, rum, Creme de cacao and a coffee liqueur. I love to use my Patron XO Cafe but you could also use Kahlua. Mix them all up and pour into a brandy glass or martini glass, top with a little whipped cream, and if you’re really feeling like spoiling yourself, some chocolate syrup or just sprinkle with some chocolate shavings and top with an espresso bean.
Any way you have it, it’s delicious! Cheers!
