And to help get everyone in the holiday spirit these holiday cocktails are a must! There's my White Christmas Margaritas for a little touch of tropical, or these light and bubbly Cranberry Mimosas but this creamy eggnog martini just might become my new go-to favorite.
Three simple ingredients and a little shake or stir, garnished with a cinnamon stick and a little holiday glitter sugar on the rim of the glass, and you’ve got a delicious Christmas cocktail for your Christmas party or the perfect drink to ring in the new year.
It’s a tradition in our family to have eggnog with a touch of rum on Christmas Eve but I think this just might be the start of a new tradition. This martini recipe is that yummy!
Why You'll Love This Eggnog Martini Recipe
- This Christmas Martini is super simple to make - just 3 ingredients!
- Extra creamy and delicious.
- Just the right amount of eggnog to liquor.
- Favorite holiday spices of cinnamon and nutmeg that you'd expect in eggnog.
- Measure ingredients right into a cocktail shaker with a jigger (shot glass).
Ingredients
All you need are 3 simple ingredients plus a few spices to make this festive eggnog cocktail.
Eggnog - either homemade eggnog or store-bought eggnog can be used. Make sure it does not contain alcohol. As an option, you can also use dairy-free eggnog.
Vanilla-flavored Vodka - or opt for plain vodka or whipped vodka
Amaretto - or your favorite almond liqueur
Spices - a sprinkle of nutmeg (or even better grated fresh nutmeg) and cinnamon makes the perfect garnish.
Garnish - a cinnamon stick is an optional ingredient, as is a candy cane, but they both add pretty seasonal touches.
How to Make the Perfect Eggnog Martini
First, prepare the edge of the martini glass:
- Dip the rim of the glass in a bit of vanilla vodka or regular vodka. Make sure not to overload the rim as it will drip down the glass.
- Pour some silver sugar onto a small plate then dip the wet rim of the martini glass into the sugar. Optionally, dip into a flat plate of cinnamon sugar in place of the silver sugar.
For the Eggnog Martini:
- Pour eggnog into a cocktail shaker.
- Add vanilla vodka.
- Pour in Amaretto.
- Finish with a pinch of nutmeg and cinnamon.
- Add a little crushed ice.
- Shake it up for 30 seconds to chill the mixture.
- Strain into the prepared glass.
Now garnish with a cinnamon stick or candy cane. Indulge in this egg nog martini while getting cozy in front of the fireplace. This martini has all the rich, creamy texture and taste of traditional eggnog, with hints of vanilla and hazelnut and a nice kick of cinnamon. Enjoy, stay warm, and happy holidays! Cheers!
Variations for Edge of Martini Glass

Recipe Tips
- Purchase a quality eggnog or make your own homemade eggnog as this is the main flavor of the cocktail.
- Chill the martini glasses in the freezer for about 30 minutes before serving. This will help keep the cocktail cold.
Recipe Variations
There are so many ways to customize this holiday martini. Here are some ideas for flavoring this cocktail:
- Hazelnut - Use Frangelica in place of Amaretto for a pop of hazelnut.

- Cinnamon - Use cinnamon syrup as an Amaretto replacement.
Here are some other favorite eggnog martini choices:
- Traditional Rum Eggnog Martini - using rum in place of vodka

- Bourbon Eggnog Martini - substitute bourbon and orange liqueur for vanilla vodka and Amaretto
- Eggnog Espresso Martini - with spiced rum, Kahlua and espresso

Did you use alcoholic or non alcoholic eggnog? I figure either could work, just curious
Linda Warren says
I used regular eggnog. Using alcoholic eggnog might work depending on how the flavors of the liqueurs work together. I will say it would give this martini one powerful punch. lol
Charlie Will says
I have never heard of silver sugar. Where can I buy this?
Linda Warren says
I bought mine at Michaels. It was called Sweet Tooth Fairy Crystal Sugar. It's so pretty to use on drinks and desserts for Christmas and New Years.
