    Fall Jello Shots

Slices of tart, green apples are filled with super-sweet caramel and buttery bourbon. It's basically spiked candied apples that are way too easy and fun to eat.

These are the perfect jello shots because caramel apples are synonymous with fall. It's all about apple picking, bobbing for apples, and eating candied apples this time of year. So, along with your apple caramel shots, make some caramel apple cupcakes, apple cinnamon pull-apart bread, or a classic French apple pie!

Why You'll Love These Green Apple Caramel Shots

You'll love making and eating the green apple jello shots. You won't have to fuss around with slurping jello out of a tiny plastic cup. Instead, just crunch down on the crispy green apples and enjoy the smooth, spiked caramel filling. It's like a grown-up caramel apple.

    Ingredients

    Ingredients for apple shots labeled.
    • Apples - any type of crispy apple will work but Granny Smith with their complementary tartness are my favorite.
    • Lemon Juice - keeps the apples from browning
    • Unflavored gelatin - is the glue that holds the caramel center together
    • Bourbon - use your favorite or sub in apple juice or cider for a kid-friendly treat
    • Condensed Milk - sweetens this treat

How to Make Caramel Apple Shots in Apple Slices

    Steps to prepare apples.
    1. Prepare the apples by cutting the apples in half then, using a small round scooper or measuring spoon, scoop out the apple. Keep at least ¼" of the apple above the peel. Do NOT cut out the bottom of the apple.
    2. Sprinkle lemon juice on the exposed apple edge to prevent browning
    3. Place apples firmly into a muffin tin so that they don’t topple.
    Steps to make caramel filling.
    1. In a small saucepan, sprinkle the gelatin on top of the bourbon. Allow the gelatin to bloom for two minutes.
    2. Whisk the bourbon and gelatin together, and place on low heat. Continue to stir until the gelatin fully dissolves.
    3. Once, dissolved, remove from heat. Whisk in the condensed milk and caramel sauce then pour into the hollowed-out apples.
    4. Chill in the fridge for a minimum of 4 hours to fully set.
    Steps to fill apples.
    1. Use a sharp knife to smoothly cut the apple slices and serve.

Apple Caramel Jello Shots in Shot Glasses

Don't want to make these shots in apples? Simply pour the caramel mixture into shot glasses. Garnish with thin apple slices.

    Alcohol Substitutions

Not a fan of bourbon? Switch it out for another type of alcohol. Here are some ideas:

    • Caramel Apple Jello Shots with Apple Pucker - It will enhance the tart and sour green apple flavor.
    • Caramel Apple Jello Shots with Butterscotch Schnapps - It will add a rich depth to the caramel.
    • Caramel Apple Jello Shots with Caramel Vodka - A great choice for enhancing the caramel flavor.
    • Caramel Apple Jello Shots with Crown Apple - It will boost the apple flavor in the caramel and add subtle whiskey notes.
    • Caramel Apple Jello Shots with Fireball - It will add cinnamon flavor to the shots.

    Non-alcoholic Caramel Apple Jello Shots

Make a kid-friendly batch of caramel apple jello shots with apple juice or apple cider instead of bourbon. Kids of all ages will love the creamy caramel apple cider shots in crunchy apple slices.

    Flavor Variations

    • Caramel Apple Pie Jello Shots - Sprinkle graham cracker crumbs over the shots.
    • Cinnamon Apple Jello Shots - add ¼ teaspoon of ground cinnamon to the caramel mixture.
    • Salted Caramel Apple Jello Shots - add a ⅛ teaspoon of kosher salt to the caramel mixture.
