Easy Air Fryer Recipes for Kids

One of the best things about using an air fryer is that it's so easy and safe that even kids can cook with it! And almost all kids love pizza, right? So, if you're looking for a really easy recipe for kids, make fresh pizza in the air fryer together.

When your kids are confident with the air fryer, they can also make Air Fryer Fish Sticks, Air Fryer Hot Dogs, and Air Fryer Grilled Cheese.

Why You'll Love This Air Fryer Pizza Recipe

Instead of making dough from scratch, this is a quick and easy pizza recipe using store-bought pizza dough.

You'll love how versatile. You can literally make any flavor you want, just change up the toppings! It's great for family pizza night or a quick party appetizer.

Plus, you don't even need an air fryer pizza pan. You can make this in your air fryer without it.

    Best Air Fryer for Pizza

If you're looking for an air fryer that cooks pizza, I recommend the Cosori Air Fryer for smaller families, it's the one I cook with almost every day or the Hamilton Beach Air Fryer Countertop Toaster Oven for larger families.

    Ingredients

Ingredients for air fryer pepperoni pizza.
    • Fresh pizza dough, homemade or store-bought
    • Olive oil
    • Shredded mozzarella cheese
    • Pepperoni slices
    • Pizza or marinara sauce
    • Corn meal for rolling pizza dough

How to Make Air Fryer Pizza

Steps to prepare air fryer pizza dough.

White preparing dough, preheat the air fryer for 4 minutes at 370 degrees.

    1. Divide dough into 2 or 3 pieces depending on the amount of dough and the size of your air fryer.
    2. Roll each piece and use a fork to pock small holes in the dough. This will aid in keeping the dough from turning into a big balloon as it cooks.
    3. Spray the basket with nonstick cooking spray. Carefully lay one of the rolled pizza doughs in the bottom of the basket.
    4. Brush with a little olive oil and air fry for 5-6 minutes or until crusty.
Steps to add toppings to pizza crust.
    1. Spoon some marinara over the baked crust. Spread evenly leaving ½" clear at the edges.
    2. Lay the pepperoni and/or your other toppings on top. Note that laying them under the cheese will keep them from possibly flying off the pizza.
    3. Sprinkle the top with cheese.
    4. Air fry for 3-4 minutes or until the cheese is melted and slightly browned.

Lift the pizza carefully from the air fryer basket and place it on a wooden cutting board. Repeat the air frying instructions for the remaining crust(s). Slice with a pizza cutter and enjoy!

    Recipe Notes and Tips

For a crispy crust, it's important to air fry the crust for a few minutes before adding the sauce and toppings. Use a fork to poke small holes in the dough to prevent it from puffing up. Flip the crust halfway through air frying for best results.

The air fryer has a high-powered fan that can blow the toppings around or off the pizza. You can place an air fryer dehydrator rack over the pizza if your model has one or secure the toppings with toothpicks.

    Recipe Variations

Pizza is so awesome and everyone has their favorite. It could be thin crust, regular crust, or deep dish. And there are all the different sauces, toppings, and cheeses. Pizza cooked in an air fryer is no different than one baked in an oven. So change it up to your liking! Here are some ideas:

Air Fryer Pizza with Premade Crust - You can use small premade crusts such as Boboli or flatbread instead of pizza dough. Skip the step for air frying the dough. Just add the toppings and air fry as directed.

Pizza Bites - use a biscuit cutter or round cookie cutter to cut the dough into small circles.

Air Fryer Mini Pizzas - Just roll out smaller portions of the dough to make a mini pizza.

Pizza Sauce - Use jarred or homemade pizza sauce, marinara sauce, white sauce, alfredo sauce, or pesto.

Toppings - There are so many! Use your favorites. Make it a meat lover's, supreme, cheese, or veggie pizza.

Cheeses - Use Monterey Jack, Gruyere, Swiss, Cheddar, Goat Cheese, or Feta Cheese (which makes a great Greek pizza!).

    Make Ahead

    • If making the pizza from scratch, make the dough and sauce in advance and keep them in the fridge.
    • You can also air fry the crusts the day before.
    • To freeze, prepare the pizzas except for air frying them after adding the toppings. Place them on a baking sheet and freeze. Once frozen, wrap the pizzas individually with plastic wrap and aluminum foil. Freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge overnight or air fry the frozen pizzas.
    • If thawed, air fry the pizzas as directed. If frozen, air fry at 370°F for 6 to 8 minutes, until the pizza is done (cheese is melted).

How to Store, Freeze, and Reheat Leftover Pizza

To Store: Wrap the pizza with plastic wrap or aluminum foil or place it in an airtight container. Refrigerate leftover pizza for up to 5 days.

To Freeze: Wrap the pizza with plastic wrap or aluminum foil or place it in a freezer-safe container. Freeze it for up to 3 months.

To Reheat Thawed Pizza: Air fry at 350°F for 3 minutes or until the pizza is warmed up.

To Reheat Frozen Pizza: Air fry at 350°F for 6 to 8 minutes or until the pizza is warmed up.
