- Bake cake according to directions. Let cool then crumble in a large bowl.
- Add frosting to the crumbled cake.
- Mix well.
- Melt chocolate chips in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth. Let cool slightly before dipping.

- Cut off the point of the sugar cone, about 1-2". You want 3 pretzel sticks to fit in snugly. Dip about 1" of the cut end into the warm chocolate.
- Immediately coat with sprinkles.
- Dip the top rim of the cone into the warm chocolate and sprinkles then place on parchment paper. Repeat with all sugar cones. To finish, dip 3 pretzel sticks into warm chocolate then insert into the small end of the cone. Hold for a few seconds until they stay in place. Chill in the refrigerator for about 10-20 minutes.
- Fill the cones with the chocolate cake mixture while holding the pretzel sticks in place. Do not overfill as you want them to stand upright easily. Store in the refrigerator.
Top Tip
Extra Filling? Make Cake Balls! Use the extra cake mixture to make delicious cake balls. Just roll the mixture into balls, refrigerate for 30 minutes, and dip into melted chocolate. Chill until set.

Sugar Cone Teepees
Ingredients
Sugar Cones
- 12 sugar cones
- ¼ cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 36 pretzel sticks
- Fall colored sprinkles
Cake Filling
- Prepared cake (I used devils food) from a box mix
- 16 ounce chocolate frosting
Instructions
Cake Filling
- Prepare the cake mix and bake according to package instructions. Set aside to cool.
- Once the prepared cake has cooled, crumble it, then mix with the chocolate frosting.
Sugar Cone Teepees (Make while cake is baking)
- Prepare a baking sheet by lining with parchment paper. Set aside.
- Cut off 1-2" of the pointy tips of the cones with a sharp knife. The hole should be big enough to snuggly fit 3 pretzel sticks. Do not cut off too much as the pretzel sticks will fall through.
- Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl in the microwave in 30-second increments until melted and smooth. Let the mixture cool for 5 minutes before dipping the cones into it.
- Dip about 1-inch of the cut tip side of the cone into the chocolate and gently shake off the excess before dipping into the sprinkles.
- Turn the cone over and dip the bottom of the cone into the melted chocolate, shaking off the excess. before dipping into the sprinkles. Place the cone onto the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with remaining sugar cones.
- To add the pretzel sticks to the teepee, take 3 pretzel sticks and dip into the chocolate, covering about 1". Insert them into the top of the teepee and hold until set. This should only take a few seconds. Repeat with the remaining teepees.
- Place the baking sheet into the fridge to help them set, about 10 minutes.
To fill:
- Remove the teepees from the fridge and fill each cone with the cake and frosting mixture. Try not to overfill as the cones may break. Tip: Support the pretzel sticks while filling the cones, so they don't move or get pushed out.
- Keep refrigerated until ready to enjoy!
