    Strawberry Cocktails

Whether you're hosting a spring or summer celebration (like a bridal shower or birthday party), strawberries are the perfect flavor to use in your drinks. They are sweet without being overly sugary. Plus, they dress up any drink you make with them. Pretty and delicious, strawberry cocktails, are always the perfect addition.

In addition to this martini, here are a few other favorites I love to make with strawberries - the edgy Strawberry Moscow Mule and the sweet-tart Strawberry Lemonade Cocktail. No matter what you choose for your next party, they'll be a hit!

Why You'll Love This Martini with Strawberries

If you like fruity cocktails, then you'll really enjoy this easy strawberry martini recipe. It's sweet with the perfect balance of buttery alcohol from the triple sec and gin. The first sip is sugary with a bit of warmth after it settles on your tongue.

This is a drink that you'll definitely want to share with a friend. Thankfully, making a basic strawberry martini or adding a touch of herbs for a strawberry basil martini is so easy that you don't have to be a bartender or mixologist to make it.

    Ingredients

Ingredients to make a strawberry martini drink.
    • Strawberry Syrup - either homemade or bottled
    • Gin
    • Triple Sec
    • Ice

    Best Gin for Martinis

The best gin to use for a strawberry martini is one with a milder flavor. You don't want the gin to overpower the strawberry flavor. Some good choices are Beefeater, Bombay, and Tangueray.

You can also bump up the flavor with strawberry gin. Beefeater, Linton Hill, and Indoggo are popular ones.

How to Make a Strawberry Martini

    Shaken martini in cocktail shaker.
    1. Place all ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake for 30 seconds.

    1. Pour immediately into a martini glass and garnish with a skewer of fresh strawberries.

    Recipe Variations

You can add more flavor to this simple strawberry martini with some substitutions or additions to the mix. Here are some options:

    • Alcohol - Use vodka, rum, or tequila instead of gin. See below for info on a strawberry martini with vodka.
    • Cranberry - Add 1 ounce of cranberry juice for a mixed berry martini with a sweet-tart flavor.
    • Herbs - Place some fresh basil, mint, or thyme in the shaker. Use a muddler or wooden spoon to crush them. Add the ice and martini ingredients. Shake and serve.
    • Lemon - Add a teaspoon or two of fresh lemon juice for a strawberry citrus martini.
    • Sparkling - After pouring the martini into the glass, add a splash of champagne or sparkling wine.

    Strawberry Vodka Martini

If you're not a fan of gin the best alternate liquor to use is vodka. It is flavorless and really lets the strawberry flavor shine.

To enhance the strawberry flavor, you can use strawberry vodka. Popular choices are Svedka, Smirnoff, and Pinnacle. There is also Frankly which is an organic option.

    Recipe Tips

    • If using homemade strawberry simple syrup, make it in advance.
    • Use a mason jar to shake the martini if you don't have a cocktail shaker.
    • Chill the glasses so they will help keep the martini cold. Put the glasses in the freezer or refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
    • Rim the glass with sugar for a little extra sweetness.

    Make Ahead and Large Batch

To make strawberry martinis in advance, just combine the ingredients except for the ice in a container and refrigerate it until you're ready to make the martinis.

To make a large batch of martinis, go to the recipe card below and hover over the number of servings. A slider bar will pop up and you can move the slider to increase the amount for how many you want to make.

Combine the ingredients except for the ice in a pitcher and refrigerate it. When ready to make the martinis, pour 11 ounces of the mixture into the cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake, serve, and repeat.
