    Ingredients you'll need

Get ready to stock up on these festive essentials to make your Eggnog Pudding Shots shine!

Ingredients for eggnog pudding shots recipe.

Instant vanilla pudding mix: This creates the silky-smooth base.

Eggnog: Adds creamy richness and classic holiday flavor.

Spiced rum: Captain Morgan is my top pick for that warm, cozy kick.

Whole milk: Helps achieve the perfect pudding consistency.

Ground nutmeg: Adds that signature eggnog taste.

Cool Whip: The key to the fluffy, mousse-like texture.

Garnishes: Think dollops of Cool Whip, a sprinkle of nutmeg, and whole star anise for a festive touch.

How to make eggnog pudding shots

Making this eggnog pudding shots recipe is a breeze and no bartending skills are required! Here's what to do:

Prep steps to make eggnog pudding shots recipe.
    1. In a large bowl, combine pudding mix, milk, eggnog, spiced rum and nutmeg. Beat until thick.
    2. Fold in the Cool Whip until no white streaks appear.
    3. Fill plastic shot glasses ¾ way full. Chill or serve immediately.
    4. When you are ready to serve, garnish with a dollop of Cool Whip or whipped cream. Add a star anise for a more festive look.
    Toasting with eggnog shot.

A quick & easy adult indulgence that is sure to be a holiday party hit. Cheers!

    Recipe tips for success

Caution on the star anise: Remind guests to remove it before enjoying.

Use a mixer: A hand or stand mixer is your best bet for getting the pudding thick and fluffy. Mixing by hand? It's just not the same.

Cool Whip perfection: Use a frosting tip for that Instagram-worthy dollop, or grab a can of Ready Whip for a quick and easy option.

Adjust the consistency: Mix everything except the milk first. Add the milk only if you want a thinner pudding texture.

Alcohol balance: Go easy on the booze because too much can make your shots soupy.

Presentation counts: Serve in cute glass shot glasses for a touch of elegance.

Recipe variations to make these shots your own

Here are some ideas of making the shots with fun twists:

Liquor swaps: Try bourbon, vodka, RumChata, Fireball, or brandy.

Non-alcoholic version: Replace the rum with more eggnog for a family-friendly treat.

Pudding flavors: Swap vanilla for French vanilla, cheesecake, or white chocolate pudding mix.

Whipped topping: Use homemade whipped cream for extra indulgence.

Eggnog options: Go for homemade eggnog if you're feeling fancy, or stick with store-bought for convenience.

Garnishes galore: Think cinnamon sticks, festive sprinkles, edible gold dust, or mini white chocolate chips.

    How to store pudding shots

Refrigerator: Store them in the fridge for up to 5 days. Leave off the whipped topping until serving to prevent a soggy mess. Cover with lids or place a thin sheet of cardboard between layers.

Freezer: Without the whipped topping, they'll last up to 3 months in the freezer. Serve frozen or thaw in the fridge overnight.
