How to Make Strawberry Fudge
Here are the simple steps and photos of making this recipe for strawberry fudge:
- Pour candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl.
- Microwave on high for 2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until melted and smooth.
- Melt the frosting in the microwave for 1 minute then pour it into the melted candy melts.
- Pour into a parchment-lined 8x8-inch pan. Tap to eliminate air bubbles then refrigerate it for 4 hours or until set.
Recipe Tips
- If you want an extra strong strawberry flavor, add ½ a teaspoon of strawberry extract to the melted frosting before pouring it into the melted chocolate. Be sure to stir it into the frosting as well.
- If you’re having trouble finding strawberry frosting, you can just use white frosting, but the strawberry flavor may not be as strong.
- Once you cut the fudge, it’s important to not leave it out to the open air long or it will dry up quickly.
- If you can’t find the strawberry-flavored candy melts, simply use pink candy melts and add a ½ teaspoon of strawberry extract to the frosting before pouring it into the melted chocolate.
- Depending on the brand of your candy melts, finished colors will vary.
- Use a silicone spatula for easy spreading so the fudge will not stick to it.
- Line the pan with parchment paper or non-stick aluminum foil to easily lift the fudge from the pan.
- Use cookie cutters to cut the fudge into different shapes. Heart-shaped is great for Valentine's Day.
Recipe Variations
Here are some ideas for customizing this recipe:
Add-ins - Stir in some freeze-dried strawberries, nuts, or sprinkles.
Strawberry Cheesecake Fudge - Substitute strawberry frosting with cream cheese frosting and ½ teaspoon of strawberry extract.
Strawberry Chocolate Fudge - Use chocolate chips or candy melts instead of strawberry candy melts. Or use chocolate frosting instead of strawberry candy.
Strawberry Fudge with Sweetened Condensed Milk - Use a 14-ounce can of sweetened condensed milk instead of the frosting, Note it will lessen the strawberry flavor. If you choose to use the milk, you’ll need to add about 4-6 ounces more of the strawberry candy melts.
White Chocolate Strawberry Fudge - Substitute strawberry candy melts with white chocolate chips and ½ teaspoon of strawberry extract.
Toppings - Sprinkle the top with mini chocolate chips, sprinkles, or chopped nuts. You can also drizzle some melted chocolate on top.
How to Store Fudge and How Long It Will Last
Store fudge in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks and in the freezer for up to 3 months. If frozen, thaw it in the fridge overnight.
When ready to serve, take the fudge out of the fridge about 1 hour before serving it to let it warm up a bit or it will be a little hard.
