    Air Fryer Parmesan Green Beans

Say goodbye to mushy canned green beans! When you make fresh green beans in the air fryer, you'll enjoy all the different tastes and textures. Green beans have an earthy sweetness that the nutty parmesan cheese and salty almonds bring out.

Cooking food in the air fryer speeds up the dinner process and makes everything crispy and delicious. Crunchy air fryer ravioli, pork tenderloin, and chicken parmesan are just a few of my most popular air fryer recipes.

Why You'll Love This Air Fryer Green Beans Recipe

Fresh green beans are incredibly healthy with loads of nutrients, vitamins, and fiber. They are also low carb so this is a delicious keto air fryer green beans recipe.

Garlic gives a special flavor to so many dishes, including green beans. So making air fryer garlic green beans is sure to please your tastebuds.

Fresh lemon juice brightens up the dish and the citrus balances the earthiness of garlic.

The addition of slivered almonds makes this a quick and easy way to make Green Beans Almondine in the air fryer.

    Ingredients

Ingredients for Air Fryer Green Beans.
    • Fresh Green Beans - see below for using frozen or canned
    • Olive oil
    • Garlic - add as much or as little as you like
    • Salt & Pepper
    • Lemon - gives a nice tang to the mix
    • Parmesan Cheese
    • Almonds

When selecting green beans at the store, look for ones that are bright green and unblemished. They should not be limp or flimsy. Fresh ones should snap when broken in half.

How Long to Air Fry Green Beans

The amount of time for air frying green beans can vary depending on the size (thickness) of the beans. Thicker string beans will take longer than thinner French beans (haricot verts). Start with 8 minutes and cook longer to your desired doneness.

    Recipe Tips

    • Make sure the green beans are dried off after rinsing before coating them with oil and seasonings.
    • Preheat your air fryer while prepping the green beans. This will give the best results.
    • Do not crowd the air fryer basket. Cook them in batches if necessary.
    • For crispy air fryer green beans, cook them a little longer, about 1 to 2 minutes.

    Air Fryer Frozen Green Beans

You can air fry frozen green beans. You can do this with two methods:

    1. Partially thaw them by rinsing them in a colander with cool water. Dry them and prepare as instructed, adding one or two minutes to the air frying time.
    2. Place plain frozen green beans in the air fryer (no oil or seasoning) and cook in 4 to 5-minute increments, shaking the baskets between each increment and draining any water from the basket. Once the green beans are cooked to your desired doneness, place them in a bowl, add the oil and seasonings and toss to coat. Sprinkle parmesan and almonds on top.

    Air Fryer Canned Green Beans

You can air fry green beans from a can. They will not be as flavorful as fresh green beans. They also will be much softer and won't get crispy.

Drain the green beans and rinse them with water. Pat them dry and air fry at 350°F for 4 minutes. Transfer them to a bowl, toss with lemon and seasonings, and top with parmesan cheese and slivered almonds.

Entrees to Pair with Parmesan Green Beans

These air fryer roasted green beans with garlic and parmesan are a tasty side for many main dishes. Here are some favorites:

    • Bacon Wrapped Pork Tenderloin
    • Chicken and Orzo
    • London Broil
    • Slow Cooker Eye of Round Roast

    How to Store and Reheat

    • Cool the green beans to room temperature and put them in an airtight container or plastic ziptop bag.
    • Refrigerate for up to 4 days.
    • Freeze for up to 3 months. Note they will turn a little mushy after thawing. Thaw them in the refrigerator or at room temperature.

Reheat air fryer green beans in the air fryer or microwave:

    • Air fryer: Place the beans in a single layer in the air fryer basket and reheat at 350°F for about 4 minutes.
    • Microwave: Place the beans on a microwave-safe plate and microwave on high in 30-second increments until heated.

    Green Bean Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between green beans and French green beans?

French green beans, also called Haricot Verts, are thinner and longer than regular green beans. French green beans are harvested earlier and are often considered to be more tender and have more flavor.

Should I soak green beans before cooking?

Green beans do not need to be soaked before cooking (it's an old wive's tale). Simply rinse, dry, and trim off the stem end. Remove the string from larger green beans.
