    Fruity Rum Cocktail

Summer, with all its bountiful harvest, is a great time to bring out the fruity cocktails. Drinks made with blueberries, raspberries and strawberries are some of the most refreshing cocktails. My favorites are always tropically flavored to bring a bit of vacation into everyday life.

This sparkling white rum cocktail is one of my favorites. It's easy to make, just 5 minutes and 5 simple ingredients including fresh strawberries are all you need. The refreshing flavor of muddled strawberries finished with a bit of bubbly will tickle the taste buds and give you a glass of total cool refreshment.

This fruity rum cocktail is just one of many you can make. Favorites like Mango Coladas, Blueberry Mojitos, Pineapple Sangria, and Watermelon Rum Punch make summer even more delicious. Add these cocktails to lighten up your summer get-togethers, BBQs, or just relaxing poolside. They're fruity, refreshing, and bubbly. What else do you need?

    Strawberry Rum Fizz Ingredients

    Ingredients for strawberry cocktail.
    • Strawberries - fresh are best but thawed frozen strawberries can also be used
    • White Rum - provides a tropical edge of flavor but vodka or gin can also be used
    • Grand Marnier or Triple Sec- for a smooth touch of orange flavor
    • Lime juice - fresh is best but bottled can also be used
    • Sparkling Wine or Champagne - adds the bubbles. You can even opt for sparkling water for a less alcoholic drink

    What rum can I use?

Which rum is best for this strawberry cocktail? You want to use white rum because dark or spiced rum will change the flavor.

    Is there a strawberry rum?

Yes, several liquor brands have strawberry rum. The most popular are Cruzan, Mailbu, and Parrot Bay. You can use it in the drink for extra strawberry flavor.

How to Make a Strawberry Cocktail with Rum

Steps 1-2 to make rum cocktail.
    1. Start with some fresh strawberries and muddle them in the bottom of a cocktail shaker or pitcher. You could also mash them in a bowl or mildly blend them in a blender as well.
    2. Add in white rum.
Steps 3-4 adding liqueur and lime juice.
    1. Pour in Grand Marnier or Triple Sec.
    2. Add lime juice for a bit of sour to offset the sweet.

Pro Tip: For making ahead for a party, you can stop here and store the strawberry rum mixture in the refrigerator until you're ready to serve it.

    Finishing steps adding champagne.
    1. To finish, fill two tall glasses with crushed ice and pour strawberry mixture into each.
    2. Top with champagne, Prosecco, or other sparkling wine.

One sip is all it will take to win you over. So what are you waiting for? Grab a glass and chill. Cheers!

How to Garnish a Strawberry Cocktail

Adding a garnish is a great way to make this fruity cocktail even prettier. Here are some ideas:

    • A fresh strawberry on the rim of the glass or several on a cocktail pick.
    • Fresh herbs - basil or mint leaves are great. They pair beautifully with strawberries.

    Make a Pitcher

If you want to make a large batch ahead of time, simply quadruple the ingredients. Make the drink except for the champagne. You don't want the fizzy part of the cocktail to go flat.

When ready to serve, simply pour the drink into glasses filled with ice and top with a splash of the bubbly.

    Variations

Basil Rum Cocktail adds an herbal note. Just add basil leaves into the mix.

Strawberry Mint Cocktail - muddle fresh mint with strawberries

Raspberry Rum cocktail - exchange the strawberries for raspberries

Strawberry Vodka Cocktail - change out the rum for vodka or even gin

What to Serve with a Strawberry Rum Cocktail

Here are some great dishes with strawberries to serve with this cocktail:

    • Spinach Strawberry Pecan Salad
    • Strawberry Chicken Salad
    • Strawberry Salsa
    • Strawberry Stuffed French Toast - great for brunch!

    More Fruity Cocktails

Try this raspberry drink for another fruity cocktail perfect for summer, Valentine's Day, Christmas, and Halloween too!

Nothing beats this Georgia Peach Cocktail with vodka for the hot days of summer.

Watermelon Sangria is light, refreshing, and has a touch of citrus.

Of course, there is always a classic Pina Colada to enjoy at any time of the year.
